Visit Shandon
Books in Shandon is located in historic Shandon, Ohio. Settled in 1802, Shandon is the oldest Welsh community in Ohio. Many of Shandon’s early buildings still stand including the 1824 Community House, complete with a Welsh death door leading to the cemetery. Nearby New London Cemetery was established in 1866 and has 20 Civil War veterans buried there. The bookstore resides in an 1843 Victorian-era house.
Brimming with country hospitality, Shandon is host to many community events including church suppers, festivals and craft shows. The Strawberry Festival (2nd weekend in June) features outdoor vendors, an antique tractor show, Welsh music, refreshments and plenty of strawberries. Christmas in the Country (Thanksgiving weekend) offers arts and crafts, holiday shopping, Santa Claus, train rides, Welsh cakes and other food.
A member of the Shandon Business District, Books in Shandon is a neighbor to the Plâs Cadnant bed & breakfast, the Periwinkle House gift shop and Shandon’s furniture and antique shops.
